What is storm water runoff?
Stormwater runoff is water that flows over land after a rainfall or snowmelt. It can carry pollutants from streets, parking lots, and other impervious surfaces into waterways, causing water quality problems and flooding.
Is it regulated?
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requires businesses to develop and implement stormwater pollution preventions plans (SWPPP) to control stormwater runoff. These plans must include measures to prevent pollutants from entering stormwater runoff, to capture and treat stormwater runoff, and to monitor the effectiveness of the stormwater management plan.
